What are the modes of MT-VIKI's KVM room management?


With the development and popularization of information technology, the number of computer systems and communication equipment is increasing day by day. The size of the company's computer room is getting larger and larger, and the central computer room has become the core of major business management. KVM room management of MT-VIKI is divided into three modes according to specific management objectives: cabinet management, digital management, and remote IP management.


First, cabinet management

This management mode is applicable to small and medium-sized computer rooms with few cabinets. The servers are all concentrated in several cabinets in the same equipment room. Each cabinet is monitored by an LCD KVM (liquid crystal KVM). When the administrator needs to check the status of the server, the LCD KVM is pulled out of the cabinet. After the LCD screen is pushed up, the server in the cabinet can be controlled. The commonly used KVM with LCD screen has 8-port LED KVM switch MT-1708UL and 16-port LCD KVM switch MT-1716UL. If there are many cabinets to be managed and the management is real-time, IT managers cannot leave the equipment room at will. They must stay in a small space around the clock to closely monitor the system for instability, failure, downtime or failure to connect. Even the server upgrade and software update must be completed in the machine room. In this case, simply adopting this method is not suitable, which will result in a strong administrator's work intensity and strong work constraints. The improvement method is to centralize the control terminals by cascading the LCD KVM switch, and centrally manage all the servers in the equipment room through one or a few LCD KVM switcher. 

Second, digital management

With the popularity of network technology, computer room management has also begun to move toward digital networking. Digital KVM switch uses CAT5 or CAT6 cable as the signal transmission cable, the signal transmission distance is longer, and the connection distance from KVM switch to the server can reach 50 meters, so that the more dispersed servers or cabinets in the equipment room can be effectively managed. If the digital KVM switcher is used with the KVM extender, the administrator can manage the servers in the equipment room 300 meters away through the network cable. On the workbench in your own office, you can manage the servers in the equipment room with ease, eliminating the trouble of network administrators entering and leaving the equipment room frequently.

If multiple administrators are required to manage multiple servers or cabinets in the equipment room under the necessary permissions, a high-end digital KVM-matrix switch is required. A good matrix KVM switch can arbitrarily group, authorize, and monitor the status of the administrator or server.

Third, remote IP management

Driven by the trend of trade globalization, the company's internal computer room management was further developed from the original fixed-point computer room management to a transnational remote management. The principle of KVM switch Over IP is that enable KVM switches to connect to remote servers through the Internet or the Web. Managers can manage and maintain devices in the equipment room anytime, anywhere, as long as they can access the Internet. For example, Dongguan has servers and cabinets in Shanghai. Dongguan does not need to have an administrator in Shanghai, because IP KVM switch can perform all operations in different places. The biggest feature of this technology is that it uses the industry standard TCP/IP protocol, so it will not be bound by any closed standards developed by specific vendors, creating an open management environment.
